The camera captures the southern sky from the Subaru Telescope on Mauna Kea. Mauna Loa is visible in the front right. The eruption seems to have subsided.
Geminids meteor shower will reach its peak around December 13 (Hawaii standard Time). The Asahi Shimbun Space Department, in cooperation with the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, will broadcast the meteor shower live.
カメラはマウナケア山のすばる望遠鏡に設置され、南の空を写しています。正面右に見えるのがマウナロア山です。噴火は収まっちゃったみたいで残念です。38年ぶりの噴火とふたご座流星群の共演が見られると期待したんですけど・・・
ふたご座流星群は日本時間で13～14日にピークを迎えます。朝日新聞宇宙部は国立天文台と協力し、流星群をライブ配信します。
